Photo Electronics has developed the series of DROLED UV LED lamps that provides maximum UV energy, superior performance, and long-term reliability while also improving workplace safety through the elimination of harmful substances such as ozone and mercury. These UV LED light sources are ideal for industrial manufacturers and commercial companies, that want to provide their customers with equipment that performs faster, safer, cleaner, and longer-lasting.  

DROLED UV LED lamps are excellent system for UV curing in printing, coatings and adhesive markets. Utilizing its own technology and expertise in optics and thermal management, Photo Electronics also provides customized solutions for customer who require  particular needs in the UV curing treatment.

An increasing number of UV curing manufacturers are embracing UV LED technology, due to its numerous benefits, including the ability to generate higher yields, reduced scrap, lower running and maintenance costs and precision control.

DROLED LED UV lights have a narrow spectral output centered around a specific wavelength, +/- 10nm. They generally use 365nm, 385nm, 395nm, or 405nm wavelengths. This near monochromatic distribution (see figure) requires new chemical formulations to ensure proper curing of inks, coatings, and adhesives.

UV LED curing light sources efficiently convert 20-40% of the input electrical power into usable UV light with no harmful UV-C or infrared exposure. That efficiency translates into approximately 80% power and heat savings over mercury based lamps.   

DROLED UV LED curing products offer advanced capabilities, operating economics and environmental advantages. UV LED curing allows system manufacturers to offer their users lower operating costs and longer-lasting solutions while enabling new capabilities and even reduced shipping and inventory storage due to the ability to print on thinner, heat-sensitive substrates.

DROLED UV LED solutions produce light by semiconductors diodes that, when appropriately powered, generate energy in the form of photons. These semiconductor devices are designed to last over 20,000 hours of operation, so with an average life far superior to traditional UV lamps that produce light generating an electric arc inside an ionized gas chamber (gas discharge lamps).   

Additionally, the European Commission (EC) through its Restriction on Hazardous Substances (RoHS) guidelines has continually monitored the rapid progress of UV LED's capability. Many in the industry predict the EC will begin limiting traditional lamp usage, starting first with smaller systems then working towards larger systems in ensuing years.

Combining energy generation of today's UV LED light sources and the right formulation of UV curable resins, with specific photoinitiators, and additives, it is possible to surpass current process capabilities for a variety of applications.  
Photo Electronics is also available to collaborate with the chemical manufacturing companies, to develop specifically formulated materials for UV LED technology.
